Athanasios is Recurve’s resident environmental impact expert, with two decades working at the intersection of climate innovation, Net Zero strategy and sustainable finance.

Athanasios supports governments, industry and investors to turn climate ambition into investable, scalable programmes. He has shaped national and city-level Net Zero pathways aligned with SBTi, blended-finance models, and helped mobilise major investment into clean-tech, hydrogen and low-carbon infrastructure. He specialises in connecting policy, markets and technology to accelerate decarbonisation that deliver socio-economic and environmental impact.

Most recently, he led major national initiatives, including the Hydrogen Innovation Initiative (Hii), Scope 3 carbon accounting, Net Zero neighbourhoods and climate-resilient infrastructure. These brought together public and private partners to tackle some of the UK’s most complex energy-transition challenges.

Athanasios contributes to several global initiatives as an expert advisor to The Earthshot Prize, expert evaluator for the European Commission, member of UNDRR’s “Making Cities Resilient”, and former Board Member of the Hydrogen Innovation Initiative (HII).
