A man, Michael Edwards, with curly black hair smiling at the camera, wearing a light blue shirt against a wooden background.

Michael is an independent advisor with over 20 years' experience working across the public, private and charity sectors.

Most recently, Michael was Director of Innovation at Connected Places Catapult, responsible for driving the organisation’s strategy to address key national priorities such as net zero, infrastructure, future technologies and accessibility and inclusion. He led the Catapult’s investment and commercialisation strategy, focussed on accelerating economic and commercial growth within the transport and the built environment sectors.

Michael’s primary work spans the investment landscape, from helping UK businesses secure investment to scale, to advising local and central government around opportunities to bring private investment into national initiatives.  He has worked with and advised several government departments including the Department for Transport, Network Rail, the UK Telecoms Innovation Network and the Department for Energy, Security and Net Zero, as well as many local authorities and communities.

Michael was a board member of the National Centre for Accessible Transport (ncat), a £20m, 7-year programme which created the UK’s first evidence centre to improve the transport experience of disabled people.

He spent the first 10 years of his career within the venture capital and management consulting industries, before taking leadership positions at several early-stage technology businesses.

Michael now acts as an independent advisor, providing public and private sector organisations with strategic guidance to achieve their ambitions within investment, climate and inclusion.
