Aligning capital, spending and leadership to build urban resilience

Recurve at the Smart Cities World Summit 2026

Recurve Founder & Managing Director Sam Markey is chairing a panel discussion on the main stage of this year’s SmartCitiesWorld Summit, 24 June, as part of London Climate Week.

The panel will explore Portfolio financing for climate action: building investable pipelines across sectors, with speakers from Glasgow City Council, Bankers without Boundaries (BwB), and RBC Global Assets Management, exploring how cities can move beyond isolated projects to attract blended capital at the scale the climate transition demands.

Following the plenary panel, Sam will be hosting the Summit’s Urban Resilience content stream, introducing speakers and steering the conversation across the day. As part of this role, he will conduct a fireside chat with Kellie Beirne, Chief Executive of Cardiff Capital Region, and give a lightning talk on the findings of our State of Procurement Report, making the case that public procurement is one of the most powerful, and most overlooked, resilience tools a city has.

It's a fitting combination of roles, because it mirrors how we work: capital, spending and leadership are not separate agendas. Pointed in the same direction, they are how places deliver transformation that lasts.

In addition to Sam, Recurve Associate Chris Murray will also be speaking in the Urban Resilience content stream, building on themes discussed in his latest Recurve Insights article.
